By The Debian developers announced the change freeze for the next Debian Linux version 11 called Bullseye. As most of you probably know, each Debian release gets a nickname from a Toy Story character. The wild west horse from Toy Story 2 will therefore be the next face for Debian.
The freeze period means no large or potentially disrupting (major changes) packages should be uploaded to Debian's "unstable" branch anymore.
What are the next steps?
On February 12th 2021: Second milestone with a soft freeze. No new packages will be accepted anymore. This is the moment deciding which packages will be available in Debian 11.
On March 12th 2021: Third milestone with a hard freeze. If there are packages which fail to automatic package test, they will require a manual unblock in order to be part of Debian 11.
On July 17th 2021: Full freeze! Fourth milestone where all packages require a manual unblock. That is the last preparation step before the release of Debian 11.

Which system architectures will be covered?
The Debian developers have decided that the architectures that will be part of the bullseye release are: amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, mipsel, ppc64el and s390x.
These are almost the same supported architectures as Debian 10 (Buster), MIPS however was removed.
How can I install and test Debian Bullseye now?
As the Debian version freeze is happening now, Bullseye is available as "Debian Testing". Currently the Alpha 3 version is available for download. Typically you'd want to download the netinst, the CD or DVD iso files.
As an alternative, a weekly snapshot is available for download, too.
